Petal Games

He loves me, he loves me not,
She sighs into the wind,
As the petals fall right to the ground,
And her thoughts return to him.

She sits there and she wonders,
If she’ll ever be at peace,
As the torn up flowers all around,
Catch in her dress’s crease.

She picks another flower,
And begins her chant again,
"He loves me, he loves me not,
I know not how it ends.”

Then suddenly she glances up,
And sees his smiling face,
And she drops the petals to the ground,
As her heart begins to race.

"Why don’t you just ask me?"
The boy requests of her,
"I assure you it’s more accurate,
Than flowers ever were.”

She stares at him so speechless,
With flowers all around,
And as he tells her that he loves her,
The last petal hits the ground.
